SARMs and baldness

The biggest fear of many men (and some women) is baldness, everyone knows that on social networks it is rumored that the use (or abuse) of SARMs can cause baldness, is this true?… yes and No, continue reading and I’ll explain it to you.

Androgenetic alopecia

First of all we are going to talk about what androgenetic alopecia is, this is hair loss that is due to an increase in the action of male hormones also known as androgens on certain areas of the scalp that are genetically predisposed to the condition.
It causes a progressive decrease in the activity of the hair follicle, which decreases in size until total atrophy of the hair bulb occurs with consequent hair loss.

SARMs and hair loss

When we use any type of substance that interacts with the androgen receptor, those people who are genetically predisposed may suffer the phenomenon already described above as androgenetic alopecia. Since SARMs, as their name indicates, interact with androgen receptors, in genetically predisposed people, and at high doses, they can accelerate hair loss. This does not mean that you are going to go bald, or lose hair, it just means that the % of the population that is predisposed (and therefore at some point in their life will happen)to go bald…. will become bald sooner.

How to avoid it?

Simple, applying a Ketoconazole cream to the scalp, thus blocking the androgen receptor of the scalp.
